Solved(A. Selberg). Let $G$ be a connected semisimple linear Lie group whose corresponding symmetric space has rank greater than 1, and let $\Gamma$ be an irreducible discrete subgroup of $G$ such that $G/\Gamma$ has finite volume. Does it follow that $\Gamma$ is an arithmetic subgroup?
